The standing teams’ positions on the tournament table of the B Division was solid enough, that it was no surprise that the next opponent up against Khimki-2, was to be a neighboring team on the charts, the Yekaterinburg Ural UP — beaten down: 100-84 (24-14, 25-19, 25-23, 26-28).

Khimki-2 showed a brilliant performance in what was a battle only at its initiation. After that time on, it was clear the ball was in Khimki’s court, so-to-speak. In the middle of the first quarter the game design quickly turned into a victory for Khimki, and as a consequence in 5 minutes the lead grew to double at the end of the quarter.

During the second quarter the stretch grew even wider, which did not surprise anyone, as Valery Sizov’s boys were carrying out the coach’s directives to a tee. They won with steadfast authority in the rebounds, and played a good defense, attacking as expected and gave some effective assists, with a total 26 in the game.

The Urals tried every which way to neutralize the fiery opponent, even “pirating” the guard from the Moscow Region. Nonetheless, the Khimki boys were able to do this a bit more frequently.
