28 juneThe Ukraine journey

The Russia Cadet team continues the preparation for the European Championship. The next opponent of our players headed by Aleksey Vadeev and Mikhail Komissarov became the National team of Ukraine. During three days Russian and Ukraine teams have faced on the court three times in Kiev. In two test matches Russian team won.

27 juneVitalyi Fridzon is included in the European team!

There was declared the roster of the European team, which will face with the reigning European champion – the National team of Greece. BC Khimki guard Vitalyi Fridzon will take part in the All star game, being on the roster of the team of Europe. Russian player accepted to participate in so important event with pleasure.

24 juneRussia National Team (class 1991): intermediate total

In Khimki Basketball Center the Russia Cadet team played two test matches. In this team, headed by BC Khimki coaches Aleksey Vadeev and Mikhail Komissarov, are included 8 Khimki young players. In the context of preparation for the Europe Championship in Greece, Russian team beated the team of Moscow twice – 80-55 and 81-59.

20 juneNikita Shabalkin withdrew from NBA draft

The BC Khimki forward Nikita Shabalkin decided to withdraw from the NBA draft at last moment.

13 juneTeemu Rannikko will resume his career in BC Khimki

The guard of Olimpija (Slovenia) and National team of Finland Teemu Rannikko, MVP of one of the Euroleague round became the first acquisition of BC Khimki in that midseason. The contract with the player is signed for 2 years.

8 juneKhimki is the champion again!

The Third International Olympic Champion Boloshev Tournament among boys (class 1996-97) came to the end. BC Khimki young players won convincingly. In final they defeated boys from the CSKA — 63-43. In the match for the bronze medals Moscow team PanTerra beated the international guests — the team from Minsk, Belarus — 49-39.

The assistant of BC Khimki main coach – Oleg Meleschenko headed the team – Lokomotiv-Rostov. BC Khimki thanks Oleg for his work and congratulates with the new appointment and the new stage in career. We wish you, Oleg, to save face and to lose only to Khimki :).

The ageing BC Khimki players – American guard Melvin Booker, Italian guard Gianmarco Pozzecco and center Ruben Wolkowyski from Argentina and BC Khimki decided not to extend the contracts.

6 juneKemzura, McCarty and Lampe extended contracts

The BC Khimki head coach Kestutis Kemzura, the forward Kelly McCarty and the center Macej Lampe prolonged their contracts to 2 years.
McCarty and Lampe were recruited by BC Khimki at the beginning of last season and as the result became the leaders of the team. Kemzura came to BC Khimki in January 2007 and succeeded to win bronze medals.

5 juneKhimki players are among the season laureates

The most authoritative Russian sports daily “Sport-Express” summed up the season. Among the laureates there are some BC Khimki players. In traditional interrogation about the best season player Kelly McCarty took a fifth place (35 points). In the dozen of best there are Melvin Booker (8 place), Vladimir Veremeenko (10 place) and Macej Lampe (12 place). Besides it, McCarty and Lampe were included in the second symbolical five and Booker in the third. McCarty is among the best in play-off games and among foreign players. Into “Russian five” entered Nikita Shabalkin whose rights BC Khimki owns.
The head coach of BC Khimki Kestutis Kemzura pretended to be named the best coach, but he yielded in this nomination to the CSKA head Ettore Messina.
