On Saturday, Khimki-2 had no problems during the match versus TEMP SUMZ in the City of Revda: 94-75 (22-16, 25-20, 19-16, 28-23).

Home team top scorers: Alexander Pavlov (20 points), Alexei Suznetsov (13), Petr Gubanov (12)

The game took off with Khimki taking the quarter: 11-0. Valery Sizov’s boys brought it on in the defensive plays. Worthy of mention: the block Mozgov set on opponent center player Dmitry Cheremnyh. Gubanov attempted an attack, having taken possession of the ball, and scored twice. At the end of the first quarter, TEMP SUMZ was able to shrink their disadvantage, and as a result: 22-16, in favor of Khimki 2.

During the second quarter Khimki-2 shot at the opponent’s net from the six-meter line and in 4 minutes made 3 triple-score shots (two by Kuznetsov). When Pavlov made a steal and then scored, it seemed Khimki was in for an easy win: 42-22. However, rounding off the first half the boys from Khimki whittled their lead down a tad: 47-36.

In the third quarter the game was level, and with 2.29 left for the end of the period, the visiting team breached it to an 8-point gap: 60-52. Sizov was forced to call a time out, and after that Yakovenko scored a 3-pointer just in time. Pavlov, with a good quick cut slashed the opponent’s defense and crowned the quarter: 66-52.

In the final quarter Khimki-2 oscillated for some moments; and having been at a 9-point lead, including Pavlov’s 7, Sizov’s boys banished all doubts over who would be taking home this victory. Even with 6 minutes to the siren they were standing: 75-52. The rest of the game was spent handling the ball to game’s end.

The rematch will take place at the Basketball Center, Sunday at 15:00 on the clock.
