Reserves. Victory for 23 February 2 march 2007

In Voronezh’s Sogdiana Sports Complex the tournament for under-11 basketball players born 1996-97; took place in celebration of National Red Army Day. The matches brought to the court players from many Russian cities. Khimki, represented by players from the City of Skhodnya, brought home the gold medal and the Championship Cup.


Players arrived at Voronezh from such far away places as Samara, Murmansk, Moscow, Liubertsy, Khimki, Tula, Tambov, Kursk, Voronezh, Belgorod, Krasnodarsk Territory, and Belgorodsk Regions, Lipetsk, Voronezh, and Moscow.

Our team was led by Coach Andrey Lobarev and Administrative Coach for BC Khimki, Vladimir Belyakov.

Team Roster: Robert Takhnenko, Imtiez Shoinbekov, Spartak Krivoy, Arthur Pershin, Pavel Lobarev, Vladimir Molotov, Dmitry Dyachin, Vladimir Pichugin, Alexander Stepanov, Vladimir Karaga, Andrey Alekseev, Grigory Klechkovsky, Sergey Astafev, Andrey Zabednov.

In the preliminary stage, the participants were divided in sub-groups. Our team clinched a sweeping victory over the teams from their quartet, careening to first place against: Kursk Region with 79-15, Voronezh-1 with 81-45, and Novovoronezh with 80-43.

In the finals, they faced off against another team from the Moscow Region, from the City of Dzerzhinsky, and once again celebrated victory: 56-37.

Coach Vladimir BELYAKOV:

— The MVP for the tournament was our player Arthur Pershin, while Pavel Lobarev and Alexander Stepanenkov demonstrated very good ball handling. Shoinbekov, Krivoy, and Pichugin played well. The organizers are exceptional; they gave the boys a huge party. And, well, we made a big effort and won this tournament.
