What has already been a brilliant Eurocup rookie season for ratiopharm Ulm center John Bryant just got better. The big man continued his fantastic Last 16 with his best game yet, dominating the paint against Galatasaray Medical Park to the tune of 20 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists.
On Wednesday, January 30, 2013 four Russian clubs played Eurocup games. Lokomotiv-Kuban, Spartak St Petersburg and Triumph Lyubertsy scored home victories and UNICS Kazan was outlasted by Crvena Zvezda on the road.

Within the bounds of EuroChallenge BC Krasnye Krylia on the road faced Turkish team Tofas SC and scored victory — 78:70. The Samara squad is still undefeated in the tournament. Andre Smith scored 32 points.

Galatasaray Medical Park Istanbul bolstered its backcourt by signing veteran swingman Manuchar Markoishvili until the end of the 2013-14 season, the club announced Tuesday. Markoishvili (1.97 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Mapooro Cantu, where he averaged 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 10 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games this season.

It is hard to imagine a much better start to 2013 than playmaker Bobby Brown and Montepaschi Siena have enjoyed together in January. Not only did Siena win all of its four Turkish Airlines Euroleague games this month, but it now leads Top 16 Group F with a perfect 5-0 record.

After opening Last 16 Group K with a tough home loss, Spartak St. Petersburg has managed to bounce back, winning its next two games to be in a good position to advance to the Quarterfinals. Spartak beat Cajasol 78-59 at home and went on to defeat Stelmet Zielona Gora 69-89 on the road last week.

Only two teams remain undefeated five games into the Top 16, and it's safe to say that no one would have predicted one of them before the season started. But if Montepaschi Siena is currently a leading playoff contender, one major reason is Euroleague Basketball's choice as bwin MVP for January, point guard Bobby Brown. You could not imagine a much better start to 2013 than Brown and Siena have enjoyed together in January.
|27 january||Crvena Zvezda signs Samardziski at center|
Crvena Zvezda Telekom came to terms with center Predrag Samardziski over the weekend on a deal for the remainder of the season. Samardziski (2.16 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius, with whom he reached the Eurocup Finals last season. He averaged 5.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 10 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games with Rytas this season. Samardziski grew up in the Partizan Belgrade youth system and also played five seasons in Serbia for FMP. He later spent a season in Turkey with Olin Edirne. Samardziski has represented Macedonia internationally and helped that team reach the medal round at EuroBasket 2011.
