Khimki Moscow Region's star guard Alexey Shved set the competition record for three-pointers in one season on Thursday in his team's 77-86 home loss at the hands of AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan in Round 25 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season on Thursday.
Shved set the record with his 79th triple of the season in the second minute of the third quarter. The basket came when Milan forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas tried to save a loose ball, but his backwards toss went right to Shved who pulled up for a three. Shved made 3 threes on the night to give him 80 with five regular season games remaining. The record had belonged to Ali Muhammed of Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul, who knocked down 78 threes in 34 games last season.

Shved, who leads the league in scoring this season with 22.0 points per game, also scored 24 points in the game to move into third place for the most points scored in a season with 551. Keith Langford established that record with 609 points in 28 games for UNICS Kazan last season. He also set a record this season by scoring at least 16 points in every game – 25 in a row and counting. Shved is in his third season with Khimki and was the 7DAYS EuroCup MVP last season. He won the EuroLeague in 2008 with CSKA Moscow.
