Herbalife Gran Canaria Las Palmas reached a new agreement with power forward Eulis Baez to keep working together next season, the club announced Thursday.
Baez (2.01 meters, 35 years old) is set to start his sixth campaign with the Spanish powerhouse. He averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds in 15 7DAYS EuroCup games last season, boosting his numbers up to 8.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 34 Spanish League games. Baez helped Gran Canaria win the Spanish SuperCup title last season, as well as making it to the EuroCup finals in 2015 and the Spanish Copa del Rey title game in 2016. A former volleyball player, Baez started his basketball career with Los Mina of his native Dominican Republic. He has also played for Akasvayu Vic, Baloncesto Leon, Valladolid and Joventut Badalona of Spain and San Lazaro, Indios de San Francisco and Leones de Santo Domingo of the Dominican Republic. Baez is also a regular member of the Dominican national team, helping it win the 2012 CentroBasket and a bronze medal at the 2011 FIBA Americas tournament. In three EuroCup seasons with Gran Canaria, Baez has averaged 7.9 points and 4.2 rebounds in 59 career games.
