Fighting until the end! 27  march  2013

Hello, Euroleague fans! This is once again Milko Bjelica of Caja Laboral Vitoria, getting ready for my team's critical game against Khimki Moscow Region. We won two of our last three games but lost against FC Barcelona Regal on the road last week. We have already played against them five times this season — they beat us in the Copa del Rey and twice in the Euroleague and we beat them twice in the Spanish League. I think that it was a very close game: Barcelona led by just 2 points with 1:50 left. We were in the game and something happened to us. It has happened several times during the season: we lost control in the moments when we are supposed to be more focused. Even with this, I think everything is open for us. We have two more games to play and if we win both of them we can get the ticket to the playoffs.
The game against Khimki is similar to the one we played against EA7 Emporio Armani in the regular season. It is a must-win, do-or-die game. We know that we could be out of chances to get to the playoffs if we lose against Khimki. We showed our character against Milano and hope to do the same this time around. We have enough time to prepare for this game and play the right way. The most important thing is not to put extra pressure on ourselves. We know that Khimki is a strong team at home and that they beat us in Vitoria by a bigger margin than pretty much anyone else this season. I think that they are the favorites in this game, but we have shown during the season that we are a team that is able to win anywhere. We can do big things!

Maybe these games are easier to play. We have no other option than winning, nothing else. This is it, we have to beat Khimki! You just go on the court and do your best. There is no need to calculate this or that. In other situations, you can say, well, “If you lose and that team wins and we lose by a number of points...” — but not this time. We have to win if we want to keep our chances alive. We don't need to put extra pressure on our backs. We have to go there and try to win!

Khimki a very experienced team with good players and a great coach that is playing good basketball. We made a lot of mistakes in the game in Vitoria and Khimki killed us on the boards. Of course, we have to fix those problems, as we cannot allow them to rebound the way they did in Vitoria. Paul Davis is just one of the many great players Khimki has. His good performance is a product of his team playing really well. Planinic, Fridzon, Rivers, Koponen... they make Davis play better. We will not focus on one player, but on them as a team.

I would like to speak a bit about Nemanja Bjelica. He is a very good player and is proving that he is a high-level prospect who can play anywhere. He has become one of the main players in our team and our game depends on him a lot. He already started to play really well in last season's Spanish League playoffs and has continued doing well since that moment. He is a good guy and will be a very an even better player in the future.

As a team, we fixed many problems in the last three or four months. We beat Fenerbahce and Besiktas recently and are second in the Spanish League with eight games to go in the regular season, which is a very good result. We had a great start in the Top 16, struggled a bit after that, but these last two wins give us the chance to fight for a playoffs spot.

We will have at least one more Euroleague home game at Buesa Arena, against Montepaschi Siena in the Top 16 finale. Me and my teammates will keep fighting and hopefully we will get back home with chances to make it to the playoffs. We will not give up until the end!
