Khimki Moscow Region has a new member in its backcourt, point guard Mike Green, who signed a two-year contract with the Russian powerhouse on Friday.
Green (1.85 meters, 28 years old) arrives from Cimberio Varese, where he averaged 13 points, 5.9 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 42 Italian League games last season. He helped Varese reach the Italian League semifinals. Green has also played for Sigma Barcellona and Bennet Cantu in Italy, Belgacom Liege Basket in Belgium and Antalya Buyuksehir Belediye in Turkey. He helped Liege reach the Belgian Cup final with Liege in 2010 and made it to both the Italian league and cup finals in 2011. Green is set to make his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut next season. "One of our priorities in this off-season was finding a new point guard," Khimki CEO Pavel Astakhov said. "After reviewing several candidates for this position, our choice was Mike Green. He had a good season in Italy, being Varese's leader. Hopefully, Mike will be able to showcase his skills and help the team to achieve its goals."
