Valencia Basket announced Tuesday that it has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with head coach Velimir Perasovic, which will keep him at the club through the end of June 2014. Perasovic, 47, took over at the club on January 27 of this year and has guided Valencia to spectacular results. The team has gone 5-1 in the Eurocup to reach this weekend’s Eurocup Finals. Meanwhile in the Spanish League, Valencia has gone 7-3 since his arrival to climb into a tie for fourth place.
A noted scorer and three-time Euroleague champion as a player, Perasovic has carried that success into his role on the sidelines. He started his coaching career in Spain, where he led Tau Ceramica to the 2006 Euroleague Final Four in Prague. He also coached a season with Caja San Fernando of Sevilla and another with Estudiantes of Madrid as well as Cibona in his native Croatia and Anadolu Efes in Turkey.

"We are very pleased with the work done so far by Perasovic," Valencia Basket vice president and general manager Paco Raga said. "It has been his work on a day to day basis, regardless of the results, that prompted us to make the decision to offer a contract extension. We wanted to give stability to our club, which is why we offered an extension for two years, with the confidence that it will enable the further growth of the team."
