Austin Daye signed a deal with BC Khimki23 september 2011

Detroit Pistons forward (23, 211 cm) Austin Daye signed a two-month contract with BC Khimki. On Sunday he will join our team.

Victor Bychkov, BC Khimki General Manager:

— BC Khimki is now actively preparing for the start of the season, which kicks off for us on September 30. We have to be a powerful, unified team up to this date, because we are waiting for very serious matches in the qualifying round of the Euroleague. Taking into consideration the fact that recently our team was joined by four EuroBasket players in Russian national team, this task seems to be difficult. Moreover we faced with additional challenges: I mean the players' injuries. Our rookie Matt Nielsen, who played so well in the Australian team in recent qualify games with New Zealand for Olympics-2012, suffered a damage of muscles of the back of the thigh. He needs time to recover. The club has taken emergency measures to "close" the position of power forward. We hope this problem has been solved by signing a deal with Austin Daye. In 2009 he was selected by Detroit Pistons in the first round (# 15 overall) of the NBA Draft and spent 141 games for two NBA years. We believe that in spite of such factors as lack of time for grinding the team, he will strengthen our game and help us qualify Euroleague.
