BC Khimki players demonstrated great facilities and team effort in crucial moments of the game and scored a very important Eurocup win over Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir — 80-66 (15-23, 22-11, 15-17, 28-15). The next game our team will play on the road on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 with Igokea Aleksandrovac (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

Ufuk Sarica, Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir head coach:

— Congratulations to Khimki that is a very good team with Euroleague roster. We wanted to win before the game. Also we played really good third quarter, but last four minutes, especially unsporting foul made us give up. In last quarter Khimki scored 28 points that is too much. So we lost first game but we are in a good shape right now. We will have a return game in Izmir and everything is possible. Of course, we would like to win and I believe we may do it.

Jon Diebler, Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir guard:

— We were fighting during first three quarters, made some big shots. We faced a very good opponent today. It’s our first loss in the Eurocup. So now we go home, have some practice and try to come up in the next games.

Rimas Kurtinaitis, BC Khimki head coach:

— Everyone knew the importance and the take of this game. Perhaps that factor has pressed us down in the first quarter, we were slow, cautious, were mistaken for many times, not only when we lost the ball, but also in defense. Nevertheless, I am pleased with the energy, diligence and aggression, especially in defense, because we were able to stop Pinar Karsiyaka only by 66 points. I think we scored a deserved victory. The main thing is that we managed to reduce the number of mistakes, that's what we were going, e.g in the third and fourth quarters we made only two mistakes. It is also important to bear in mind the margin as we will have a very important return game in Turkey, and if we lose, not with bigger difference.

Petteri Koponen, BC Khimki guard:

— It’s a very important win for us as our opponent had 3-0 record before this game. At home we must win every team. At the first half we started not very good and allowed Karsiyaka players to shot too easy baskets, but after a big break we played very good defense. I think the key was the defense against Bobby Dixon.
