Russian Championship. The crushing of Spartak12 january 2008

The first match of second round of Russian Championship BC Khimki played against Spartak in Saint-Petersburg. Yellow-blue dictated all the game and won convincingly - 97-65 (19-18, 19-15, 36-13, 23-19). Next match BC Khimki will play at home agagist Spartak-Primorie from Vladivostok on 19th of January.
Top scorers: Lampe (18), Fridzon (17), Ewing (13+9 assists), Wilkinson (12), McCarty (11).

The starting line was: Ewing, Fridzon, McCarty, Wilkinson, Lampe.

In the first period there was a stubborn struggle. The lead of BC Khimki after first 10 minutes was minimal – 19-18. Further yellow-blue scored +10, but Spartak cut the lead a little.

After the long break Mccarty, Lampe and Wilkinson made a spurt. The result of the match was determined in this third period, then the lead of BC Khimki was more than 20 points. In fourth period BC Khimki coach’s staff had a possibility to experiment on the roster. Fans saw the union of Savkov in Fridzon in the defense.

— We expected the difficult game because of new coach in Spartak. I am satisfied with the third period, which was decisive. To play against Spartak is always not easy. Not all moments I liked today, but what is more important – we won.
