Culpepper scores 26, Khimki wins 26  april  2015

VTB United League
Khimki Moscow Region defeated Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd at home, 86-80. After a competitive, hard-fought game, the outcome was decided in the final minutes. Despite Randy Culpepper's inspired performance, Khimki ultimately earned a victory.
Intro
The outcome of the game had no impact on the standings, but Khimki hoped to finish the regular season with a 14-1 home record, while Volgograd looked to snap an eight-game losing streak.

Rimas Kurtinaitis's men had the early momentum, led by Ruslan Pateev and Maxim Sheleketo in the paint. The visitors pinned their hopes on Randy Culpepper. Despite smothering defense, Culpepper scored eight points in the 1st quarter to keep the home team within five points, 25-20.

Khimki continued to dominate in the paint, but Krasny Oktyabr matched Khimki basket for basket, trailing 40-35 at halftime.

An 8-0 run to start the 3rd quarter put the visitors briefly ahead. Kurtinaitis's men battled back, stifling Volgograd on offense to regain a 55-54 advantage heading into the 4th quarter.

Turning Point
The score in the 4th quarter was tight until Khimki got hot from the perimeter. Marko Popovic, Victor Claver and Stanislav Ilnitsky each knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, adding to Khimki's lead. Randy Culpepper, who picked up the Scorer of the Year award prior to the game, was terrific but couldn't lead his team to victory. Khimki wins, 86-80, to finish the regular season with a league-leading 14-1 record at home.

Star of the Game
Ruslan Pateev. With several starters sitting out the game, Khimki's young Russian center stepped up and played one of the best games of his career. Pateev recorded his first double-double, as well as personal highs in points, rebounds, minutes, field goals and efficiency rating.
