Zalgiris Kaunas has exercised its option to keep forward Paulius Jankunas for the 2012-13 season.

30 juneLietuvos Rytas reunites with guard Blums

Lietuvos Rytas turned to former player Janis Blums to bring scoring ability and experience to its backcourt by signing the veteran guard for the coming season. The sides agreed to terms on a contract for two seasons. Blums (1.90 meters, 30 years old) helped Rytas to the Eurocup title game and a Baltic League title when he played for the club in 2006-07.

29 juneVEF Riga adds forward Daniels

Latvian champion VEF Riga has bolstered its roster by signing scoring forward William Daniels for the 2012-13 Eurocup Regular Season. Williams (2.03 meters, 26 years old) averaged 14.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game last season playing for Nanterre in the French League. The previous season, he had helped Nanterre move up from the second to the first division in France. Daniels has also played for Peristeri and Kavala of Greece, as well as the Bakersfield Jam and University of Rhode Island in the U.S.

29 juneGalatasaray, Atsur pen two-year deal

Galatasaray Medical Park landed one of Turkey’s best playmakers with the signing of Engin Atsur to a two-year contract. Atsur (1.93 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Fenerbahce Ulker. Atsur suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon while playing for the Turkish national team before the 2010 FIBA World Championships, which caused him to miss the entire 2010-11 season.

CSKA Moscow signed forward Zoran Erceg (2.11 meters, 27 years old). Erceg arrives from Besiktas, with whom he won the Turkish League and the FIBA EuroChallenge last season.

27 juneCholet Basket appoints Sousa head coach

Cholet Basket named Jean-Manuel Sousa as the successor to Erman Kunter, who left the club for the same position at Besiktas earlier in the week. Sousa, 46, arrives from Le Havre, where he has served in various capacities for 21 years. He has been that team’s head coach since 2008 and also coached one season in the Eurocup in 2008-09. Sousa had a lengthy career as a point guard in the French League, including 11 seasons with Le Havre, after which he retired in 2001. He has since worked with junior teams and as an assistant coach before taking over that head coaching job.

One of the Eurocup's few two-time champions is returning to the team he won it with first as Valencia Basket on Friday announced a contract agreement with sharpshooter Thomas Kelati until the end of the 2013-14 season, pending medical and physical tests.
