Matteo Boniciolli gets 2-year contract extension from BC Astana, Kazakhstan 3 april 2012

Matteo Boniciolli (agency: Beo Basket) extended his stay in Kazakhstan for two more years. The Italian specialist penned contract extension with BC Astana which will keep him in the club until the end of the 2013/14 season. Boniciolli took over the newly formed team last summer and won the Kazakhstan Cup with them. They currently have perfect 20-0 record in the league. Astana also competed in VTB United League this season. They registered 7 wins in 16 games. Matteo Boniciolli worked with Lottomatica Roma from December of 2009 until January of 2011. Before that, he coached La Fortezza Bolona one season and managed to win the EuroChallenge title with them. In was in 2008/09. In 2008, Boniciolli won the Italian Cup with Air Avelino and was named Eurobasket.com All-Italian SerieA Coach of the Year -08. He reached SerieA Finals with Fortitudo in 2002 and Belgian Cup Finals with Oostende in 2004. In the past, Matteo Boniciolli worked with Teramo, Udine and Italian cadet NT. He was coach assistant of the senior NT from 1996 to 2001.
