Turkish Airlines Euroleague hopeful PGE Turow Zgorzelec released a near-complete roster for the 2011-12 season on Friday, which includes two players re-signed from last year's Polish League runner-up squad and five new faces, who join a handful of players already under contract. The players that re-signed are swingman David Jackson and forward Michak Gabinski. Among the newcomers is one former Turow player, Michal Chylinski, and four arriving for the first time: former Euroleague champ Giedrus Gustas, Aaron Cel, Ronald Moore and Artur Mielczarek.
Jackson (1.93 meters, 25 years old) was third on the team in scoring with 10.5 points per game and second in steals (1 spg.) last season. He was the hero of the decisive playoff semifinals win over Trefl Sopot with season-highs of 23 points and 8 rebounds. He previously played for KK Jedinstvo Bijelo Polje in Montenegro and Pezinok in Slovakia, which he helped win the 2010 domestic championship. Gabinski (2.02 meters, 24 years old) is a veteran of the Polsih League with previous seasons spent with Stal Stalowa Wola, Anwil Wloclawek, Sportino Inowroclaw and SMS PZKosz Wladyslawowo. He was a valuable reserve last season with averages of 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds. A former member of the Polish junior national teams, Gabinski also has European experience at the club level after appearing in the 2005-06 ULEB Cup with Anwil.

Chylinski (1.96 meters, 25 years old) returns to the club after sniping 9.1 points on 39.5% three-point shooting in the 2009-10 Polish League. He also took part in six Eurocup games that season. Chylinski was seen as a top Polish prospect in his youth and left home early to play for JSF Nanterre in France and Unicaja, Axarquia Malaga and Los Barrios in Spain as a teenager. He amassed nine Euroleague appearances with Unicaja between 2006 and 2008. Chylinski played for Poland at EuroBasket 2009.

Gustas (1.90 meters, 31 years old) is surely the most experience and accomplished of the bunch. The former Zalgiris player won the Euroleague with that team in 1999 and won a gold medal at the European Championships representing Lithuania in 2003. He played for Trefl Sopot last season and produced 10.5 points and 2 assists per game. He has also suited up for Lokomotiv Rostov and Dynamo Moscow in Russia and Barons in Latvia, whom he led to the 2008 FIBA EuroCup title. Gustas is also remembered as the tragic hero in one of the Euroleague’s most famous games. He missed 2 free throws in the waning seconds of the last game of the 2004 Top 16 between Zalgiris and Maccabi Tel Aviv, which would have iced the game for Zalgiris and sent his team to the Euroleague Final Four. Instead Derrick Sharp hit a game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer and Maccabi went on to the Final Four and title.

Moore (1.83 meters, 24 years old) will start his second professional season after shining with 17 points and 7 assists for BK Casta SPU Nitra in Slovakia last season. He was a star at Siena College where he finished as the school’s alltime assist leader. Cel (2.03 meters, 24 years old) arrives from French club Nantes, where he averaged 12.1 points and 6 rebounds in the French second division last season. The power forward grew up in the Le Mans youth system and has also played for Brest and Boulazac. As a teenager, Cel made appearances for Le Mans in both the Eurocup and Euroleague. Turow will be his first club outside of France. And Mielczarek (1.95 meters, 27 years old) is a veteran winger who has played for Slask Wroclaw, AZS Radom and Tarnovii Tarnowo Podgorne in Poland and BK 04 AC LB Spisska Nova Ves in Slovakia. The moves bring the total of players under contract at Turow to 11, which leaves room for management to sign one more top player.
