BC Khimki signs Tyler Honeycutt 8 july 2014

BC Khimki signed a two-year deal with the former NBA player, 23-year-old small forward Tyler Honeycutt, who played last season in Ironi Nes Ziona B.C. (Israel).

Pavel Astakhov, BC Khimki General manager:

– We have examined several candidates for a small forward position and eventually decided to sign Honeycutt. He is young and very promisimg player who was drafted in 2011 by Sacramento Kings and spent last season in Israel. Tyler's main advantages are good long shot, self-confidence and leadership qualities. Moreover, he is very athletic and is not afraid of hard work. Some NBA teams have interest in Honeycutt and now he is plaiyng in Summer League with Miami Heat. I'm sure, in our club he will develop and grow as a professional and help us achieve our goals.

Rimas Kurtinaitis, BC Khimki head coach:

– Honeycutt is a young, tall and promising player, who was drafted by NBA team Sacramento Kings three years ago. He has a very good sense of a rebound and also he plays great in the offense. This very aspect we intended to strengthen because last season we had problems on rebounding. Many European clubs sign NBA players but they are not motivated enough. On the contrary, we sign those basketball players who want to go to the NBA, but they need to prove themselves in strong European clubs. I'm sure Honeycutt will give us the necessary energy and aggression. With Honeycutt, Lauvergne, Augustine and Davis we expect to look more confident in the paint.
